Truth vs. Reality

“We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented.”

This is a quote from the 1998 movie, “The Truman Show”. The movie is a satire that stars Jim Carey as Truman Burbank, a man whose entire life has been broadcast as a reality TV show without his knowledge, and it reminds me of this passage in 1 John. In 1 John 5:18-20, John tries to open our eyes to the fact that the reality we live and see is deceiving because the system of the world is in constant opposition to the truth of the gospel.
