Sowing Mercy, Reaping Freedom

Jul 26, 2026    Pastor Keith Alexander

This message centers on mercy as the defining, counter-cultural mark of the Christian life. Unlike other belief systems that operate on balanced scales — obey and earn your reward — the Gospel breaks that logic entirely: we could never do enough to balance the scales ourselves, so God obliterated them, paying our debt through Christ's death. Drawing on Peter's sword in Gethsemane, Psalm 23's picture of a table set amid enemies, and the image of a judge who steps down to take his son's place, the message calls believers to adopt Jesus' posture releasing the debts others owe us, even at the cost of our pride or reputation, because true freedom is found not in getting what we're owed, but in extending the same mercy we've received.
